The STEM Project will be recruiting SMEs in December 2011 from the East Border Region to form an environmental network which will meet regularly to share experiences, learn about environmental support and grant schemes, best practice, environmental legislation, renewable energy, environmental management and pollution control. The meetings will provide the businesses with the opportunity to network, build knowledge and learn from each other on environmental and other related issues.
On site support will be provided to each businesses participating in the networks in the following areas: energy, waste and water auditing of facilities and processes;EMS certification (ISO 14001 / BS8555), carbon footprint measurement; advice and guidance on environmental legislation, sustainable energy sources and collaborative recycling initiatives.
